PROJECT TITLE
MonitorMe

PROJECT GOAL: MonitorMe affordably monitors important vital signs such as heart rate and temperature for low-income communities lacking access to doctors to bridge gaps in healthcare, wealth, and racial inequities.

MonitorMe is a portable, low-cost health monitor that benefits low-income communities who have less access to doctors due to lack of healthcare and also acts as a personal device such as for those who are wary to leave their house (due to COVID-19). MonitorMe streamlines the process of diagnosis by providing specific health information — BPM and temperature — in an easy-to-read manner that can be communicated to a doctor or recorded for tracking purposes. It reduces time and money spent at the doctor’s office with also components to increase accessibility to the visually or hearing impaired.

PROJECT TITLE
A.T.A.K. Inequity! Active Tracking Air Knowledge

PROJECT GOAL: Underprivileged populations are unaware of the effects of poor air quality on their lives. The prototype will address inequities by detecting poor air quality and notifying the user.

Many citizens in the United States live in areas with poor air quality. Large numbers of people affected by this are unaware of the bad air quality and the problems it causes. We hope to bring awareness and educate people about air quality and the challenges involved in solving this issue. We designed our project to help people who live in underprivileged communities and those with disabilities such as blind and deaf individuals. These people are particularly at a disadvantage when it comes to the knowledge and resources about air quality.
